Conditions for agricultural production in the rural areas of Lower Silesia

The research presented shows the conditions of agricultural production in the rural areas of Lower Silesia seen from the angle of chosen features character-istic for the functioning of agriculture and arable farming. The research covered 133 rural and rural-urban districts in dolnoslaskie voivodeship. To achieve the goal intended for this research the following features were used: soil, size struc-ture of farms, population which has their own source of income from their farms of 100 ha of farmlands, the tax on agricultural activities. The research has con-firmed a great influence of usefulness of fertile soil on the farming situation in the region. A departure from this rule is observed in the area of influence of Wroclaw agglomeration, where, despite the high quality of farmlands the share of popula-tion which is supported by farming (a plot of farmland) expressed in 100ha is relatively low. ...

Wind energy development on lower Silesia province

The aim of this paper is to present issues related to the development of wind energy in the province of Lower Silesia. The first part of the paper based on the source materials presents conditions for the development of wind energy. Only 25% of the province area is an area of the lowest conflicting potential. In Lower Silesia, there is only one wind turbine, but the economic factors increase the inter-est in these investments. In order to designate areas for the location of wind farms many municipalities in the Lower Silesia began in recent years to create the spa-tial development plans or to change them. The study shows the involvement of the investment process based on selected municipalities of this province. The basis for the sustainable development of wind energy should be well considered spatial management. Location decisions must be preceded by a deep analysis of natural, social and landscape conditions. Such process may limits the formation of invest-ment conflicts. ...

LAND TRANSFORMATIONS OCCURRING IN THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPMENT OF SELECTED MUNICIPALITIES OF THE SUBURBAN ZONE OF WROCLAW

Farmlands occupy more than 60% of the area of Poland. However due to the country's economic development and changing social needs it occurs more frequently their exclusion from the agricultural manner of use. According to the strategic assumptions of the rural development, the rural areas should form an attractive place for work, living, leisure and conducting of agricultural or non-agricultural activities. Exclusion of the agricultural land from production means a reduction of resources of land, which is the basic fixed asset in agricultural production; therefore, it is especially important the rational management of land, taking into account the necessity to protect agricultural land.The aim of the research is to analyze the transformation of agricultural lands, which took place over the years in the selected communes of Lower Silesia. Due to the special processes which are taking place in Poland in suburban areas, selected, the communes selected for the analyses are: Wisznia Mała and Kobierzyce directly bordering Wroclaw.
