In the local spatial development plan for Wiśniowa district covering the area of Węglówka village there have been formed areas with the possible existence of landslides and screes. The aim of the article is the analysis of the two out of nine distinguished landslide areas paying special attention to the legitimacy of their formation and possible dangers resulting from the settlement of these areas. Among geomorphological processes, landslides constitute the most negative process from the point of view of the economic activity of people living in the area. The range of this problem is so wide that the classical methods of field observations are no longer sufficient. Therefore, besides the traditional methods, such as geological field studies, there have been applied also more considerably modern methods in the article such as: – tachometric measurement of the lie of the land carried out with the use of Leica TCRA 1203 total station, applied for collecting field points; – interpolation made with the use of the programs such as CorelDraw, Micromap and Surfem, applied for the creation of elevation models for landslide areas; – GPS technique used in geological field studies; – vector analysis, applied for the calculation of gradients resultant vectors; ...
The paper discusses the role of cultural heritage objects in spatial planning and investment processes. European Union area is particular for its enormous diversity and cultural heterogeneity, which are potentially the most significant development factors in the region. EU spatial development policies play an increasingly important role in all working areas. Even if the objectives related to most important political aspects are not directly related to spatial management, spatial issues are always kept in mind. By exerting impact on spatial structure, the European Union attempts at maintaining and strengthening regional diversity, which is important for the pro-tection of cultural landscapes. The article presents the European Spatial Development Perspective, whose main role is to ensure diversity within the European Union area, because none of the activities related to spatial or settlement structure should lead to local or re-gional homogeneity. The analysis particularly focuses on cultural landscapes, which play an increasingly important role in EU spatial planning. ...

The aim of this article is to present the basic rules of protection and rational usage of lands in Poland and Ukraine, and to point out the differences and similarities in this issue. In the summary concerning this problem the authors said, that the average quality of agricultural lands varies in both countries. When we take into consideration the soil quality, in Ukraine the soil is much better than in Poland. Besides, the agrarian structure is different in both countries. In Ukraine there is a large number of big farms with big farmlands, often used as crop fields. In the Polish structure of farmlands most of the farms are private (individual). This difference has an impact on the strategy of environmental protection and land usage there. In Ukraine the protection is based on large farmlands, their proper shape and area, the level of tillage, to avoid the danger of soil erosion. In Poland the most important is protecting the best lands, according to their quality. In authors' opinion, the issues presented in the article can be a basis for the experience exchange and teaching, treating the rules of protection and economic usage of lands of their neighbor, as the source ...
Current approaches to cultural landscapes are more and more often em-phasising that these landscapes should be protected not only because they embrace objects of historical and environmental value, but also due to their potential for local and regional development. Cultural landscapes have influence on tourism attractiveness. The paper presents examples of cultural landscapes in Poland and abroad that have been shaped to become tourist products supporting local and re-gional development. It particularly demonstrates the way rural space could be de-veloped to create tourist and recreation areas taking into consideration local cultural potential as well as possibilities of social and economic growth. What is particularly important in the development of tourist and recreation areas is active participation of local communities and possibilities of cooperation between many institutions.Space could be shaped based on local authenticity values and also in relation to environmental, cultural and social conditions. Particular attention should be drawn to those elements of cultural landscape, which are seen as the dominant factors shaping the perception of a particular landscape, region or country ...
