The effect of substrate on the amount and composition of biogas in agricultural biogas plant

Construction of biogas plants processing agricultural waste enables to reduce waste, limit emission of gases and odors in rural areas as well as gives the possibility to ensure self-sufficiency of energy. The amount of generated electricity and heat depends on the quantity and quality of biogas. The aim of this work was to show how the substrate affects the amount and composition of the biogas in agricultural biogas plants. The most commonly applied types of substrates in agricultural biogas plants in 2011-2012 and in the first half of 2013 were indicated due to the Agricultural Market Agency data. The research also showed the amount of agricultural biogas produced as well as the amount of electricity and heat generated from agricultural biogas during the time period mentioned above. ...

Determination of the potential biogas energy production amounts and areas in the Tigris Basin using GIS

The increasing world population renders the developed energy sources of the industry insufficient, and existing energy sources become expensive. It is anticipated that the energy deficit will further increase in the future. Scientists are in search of new energy sources in the face of this fact. It is considered that the cattle breeding potential of the Southeastern Anatolia Region may increase both as a result of state supports and arable lands. Determining the potential biogas energy production areas of the Southeastern Anatolia Region in terms of cattle breeding is possible with the use of today's knowledge and technology. With this study, it was aimed to determine the obtainable biogas energy fields and the current situation for the provinces in the Tigris Basin (Diyarbakir, Mardin, Siirt, Batman, Sirnak). The number of cattle in the basin for 2015 was benefited from in this framework. The boundaries of the research provinces were drawn using ARCMAP 10.0 software by making geographical corrections. In order for the inquiries of each province to be made independently from other provinces, all boundaries were divided on the basis of provinces, districts and villages as separate layers. These data constitute the main material of the study. The number of ...

DETERMINATION OF QUANTITY OF BIOGAS FROM SEWAGE SLUDGE

Renewable energy sources have been amongst crucial elements of the European Union policy for a long time. Currently, they have become significant in terms of possibilities of the technology development, whichmay limit the effects and duration of the economic, energy and climatic crisis. The Directive 2009/28/EC obliges the increase of the share of Renewable Energy Sources in the final energy consumption up to 20% (inPoland up to 15%) by 2020. Sewage sludge is waste that significantly affects the aspects of environment. The research considered the rationality of using the waste for the production of biomethane. The purpose of the work was to determine the dynamics of biogas production from sewage sludge of municipal origin. Its scope included a review of the literature based on the Polish and European law. Issues of technology, production and use of biogas and residue were presented. The research was based on determining the properties of sewage sludge - raw and after stabilization, and carrying out a fermentation process for a period of 30 days. The validity of using sewage sludge as substrate for biogas production was confirmed. ...
