Hand watering or sprinkler irrigation is mostly used in transplant produc-tion of tomatoes grown in pots with organic substrates. The flood irrigation on the tables or on the flood floors is applied in the ornamental plant production and more recently and more often in transplants production of the tomato and the cucumber cultivated in cubes of rockwool. The aim of the investigations conducted in 2008-2010 was to determine the influence of the flood fertigation with different concentration of the nutrient solution (the EC = 1,5, EC = 2,5, EC = 3,5, EC = 4,5 mS.cm -1) on the growth and development of the greenhouse tomato transplants cultivated in peat substrate. The transplants were cultivated on heated flood floor. The pots with tomato plants during fertigation were flooded to height of 3-4 cm by period 30 minutes. The kind of fertigation had no significant influence on the growth and development of tomato transplants. The plans obtained from flood fertigation and from hand watering characterized the similar height, thickness of stem, fresh and dry matter and also surface and number of leaves. Tomato transplants fertigated with nutrient solution of EC 2,5 and 3,5 mS cm-1. had best parameters such as the height, ...
Based on the amount and duration of external temperature, degree day values are determined according to whether the selected equilibrium temperature is lower or higher than the air temperature. Degree day values are calculated according to the fluctuations in ambient temperature. It can be understood whether heating or cooling systems are necessary within the calculated periods. In this study, the meteorological data of Antalya region dating back many years and the temperature values suggested according to the cultivation periods of tomato in greenhouse environment have been used as material. The daily average temperature values recorded for many years have been compared with the equilibrium temperature values selected for the tomato plant thereby calculating the heating and cooling day values for each cultivation period. Tomato cultivation in greenhouses is carried out in 2 periods in the region in spring and autumn. At the end of these two periods, it was determined that the heating degree days in autumn were determined to be higher than that in spring. Whereas cooling degree days were determined to be greater for autumn cultivation in comparison with that of spring cultivation. Information regarding the energy consumption of an agricultural structure can be obtained beforehand via the ...
In this study, it was carried out in order to determine the amount of plant nutrients that can be obtained from the wastes of tomato plants grown with soilless agriculture technique in the greenhouse and to make suggestions for evaluation possibilities. For this purpose, cocopeat and plant samples were taken from the soilless greenhouse where tomatoes were grown at the end of production. The stem, leaf, fruit and root of the collected cocopeat and plant samples were separated and N, P, K, analyzes were made in these separated samples. According to the results obtained, the amount of N that can be added to the soil with the cocopeat wastes is determined as 10.58 kg, the amount of P 0.09 kg and the amount of K 0.52 kg for one decare area. The total N amount that can be gained from the roots, stems, leaves and fruits of the waste tomato plant per decare area was determined as 6.65-11.97 kg, P content 1.22-2.52 kg and K amount between 5.10-18.21 kg. Considering the distribution of the amount of NPK that can be added to the soil according to the plant parts. On average, 4.18 kg in root, 2.50 kg in stem, ...
