Due to repeatedly occuring water deficit, one of rational methods to increase exploitable resources at non-individual rural water intakes is to periodically store water in small storage reservoirs. The article presents an assessment of the reliability of water abstraction from the water intake situated in the mountainous stream with non-controlled flow as well as with controlled flow after emergency reservoirs and a small storage reservoir were built. Using data from the water intake in the Białka stream, Wilkowice gmina, the influence of water storing on water management efficiency during deficit period is shown. ...
In the ecological system of the Mściwojów Reservoir the occurrence of heavy metals was ascertained. The concentration of chosen elements: in bottom sediments of the reservoir (Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Ni, Mn, Fe) and in the reed (Phragmites australis) from settlement ponds and the pre-dam reservoir (Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd) has been determined. Origin of these metals can be both geogenic and anthropogenic. In the paper the possibility of the element genesis has been presented. Accordingly, there has been analyzed the geological formation of the reservoir catchment and collected the information on agricultural and communal pollutions.. Anthropogenic hazard for the water environment on this area originates mostly from the agricultural space, as a consequence of applying the intensive agriculture, the mineral manures and the plant protection measures and the irrational leadership water-of sewer management. ...
Water for water supply network of Kraków is withdrawn from the Rudawa river on the weir in Szczyglice. The withdrawn water is directed to two intake res-ervoirs, for pretreatment and storage to ensure water supply for the time of water quality decrease in the river. At the time of incorrect water quality in the reser-voirs (e.g.during eutrophication) water is withdrawn directly from the river. The water source is selected based on the water quality monitoring in order to provide best possible quality material to the waterworks. The paper presents the structure of water intake during the 8 year period. The percentage share of water with-drawn from the river and from the reservoirs in respect of the volume of treated water was analysed in each year. This percentage changes in time in favor of the intake reservoirs, from 32.0 in 2004 to 88.0% in 2010. The average share in the analyzed period of time reached the following values: intake directly from the river - 40.0%, reservoir I - 41.0%, reservoir II - 19.0%. Changes in the total per-centage of each source occur often, ranging from 100% use to complete resigna-tion from the source. Deteriorating water quality in summer (algae development, increase ...
In 1998 the water intake from the Rudawa river for water supply purposes of Krakow was secured by storage reservoirs with a total volume of 981 thousand m3. The reservoirs are designed to improve the quality of water supplied to the Water Treatment Plant (WTP). Water collected in the reservoirs acts as supply used when water quality in the river deteriorates. Simultaneously the water is purified in these reservoirs. The article presents the impact of the reservoirs on the change of water turbidity and colour during the first 11 years of the exploitation of the reservoirs (1999-2009). The analysis was based on the results of the research carried out in five sites of the technological line, from the intake through the storage reservoirs to the raw water well (Młynówka, inflow to the reservoirs, outflow from the reservoir 1, outflow from the reservoir 2, the well of raw water located in the area of the WTP). The reservoirs had beneficial effect on the reduction in water turbidity in the analysed multi-year period. In the raw water well the average water turbidity value was lower than the turbidity of water drawn from the Rudawa river (Młynówka) by 55,33% and the scope of ...
This paper presents the research results of pollution level in Stobrawa river. The research was carried out on 19,5 km of the river in six test points: from the cross-section of the planned Kluczbork storage reservoir (point St.1) to the river source (point St.6). The test was carried out between November 2006 and October 2007. In the tested samples following compounds were determined: NO3-, NO2-, NH4+, PO43-, Ptot., BOD5, DO, TSS, water temperature, water reaction and elektro-lytic conductivity. Beside water quality tests, the hydrometric measurements were carried out. The paper also presents Stobrawa river quality valuation. The valua-tion of eutrophication of the Stobrawa river has been presented as well and it has been determined if the water is prone to nitrogen compounds pollution from agri-culture. The Stobrawa river catchment area has been valuated taking into consid-eration the flowing matter into the body water. The test has shown vast pollution of water flowing into the Kluczbork water body. Subsequently it may negatively influence the water quality in the body of water in terms of its future possible water retention. It has been shown that the familiarity of the profile of water quality indica-tors changeability is crucial while taking decision whether to build ...
The possibility of enlargement of the flood safety of drained terrains of locality Zarzecze using the storage reservoir, accumulating the excess of flood waters was introduced in the work. The worked out conception of the chapter of waters from the ditch R to the pumping station channel was also presented. The lock of the valves of embankment sluices leading the waters of the ditch R to the Vistula river follows in flood conditions, by increasing the level of the water in to the Vistula river. It comes to the outflowing of water from ditch R and submergence of the terrains of the settlement Łączany-Zarzeczein the consequence of the permanent supply of water to ditch R and damming up of water in ditch in the result of the lock of the embankment sluice. In the order to attain o reduce the risk of submergence of these terrains the creation of the storage reservoir from the pumping station channel was proposed. This channel leading water to pumping station Zarzecze. Capacity of storage reservoir and the time of filling up were qualified, founding steady the supply about flow intensity equal to 2,13 m3 ∙ s-1. It was statement that the current technical condition ...
