Biogenic compounds in inflow for the Dobczyce Resrvoir

The study presents the results of the research under contain a nitrogen and a phosphorus in the Dobczyce reservoir's inflows (in a period July-December 2003 year). There was a drought time, which characterized a low precipitations. The research has done on a shot in a five direct inflows of reservoir: Ratanica, Brzezówka, Dębnik, Wolnica i Trzemeśnianka and in the Raba river (Osieczany section). Obteinable results of the research with six measuring sections were compared and on this basis, water was qualified to an appropriate grade. The direct inflows of the Dobczyce reservoir, which was investigated on a contain a nitrogen and a phosphorus, wasn't serious endangered in a half a 2003 year. The inflows was moderate prosperous in a nitrogen compounds and affluent in a phosphorus compounds. The water of streams investigated rest on value of concentration nitrogen in a form: amonium nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen and nitrite nitrogen according to a decree of 1991 can qualify for a first class purity. According to a proposal decree can qualify for a first class with exception of the Ratanica stream and the Trzemeśnianka stream, concering to nitrite nitrogen. There is a worse qualify of water in the Raba river, becouse of amonium ...

Treatment of wastewater from small abattoirs and fruits-and-vegetable processing plants in constructed wetlands

Investigations with wastewater from small abattoir were carried on hybrid constructed wetland systems. Mean COD of wastewater reached 3000 gO2∙m-3 and concentration of Ntot was about 400 g∙m-3. The main problem was sufficient removal of NO3-N and Ntot. In order to intensify denitrification, a part of effluent from the vertical bed was recirculated to the settling tank. Effectiveness of Ntot removal on the plant raised along with the rise of recirculation level and obtained for 100, 150 and 200 % respectively 85,7; 91,9 and 96,6 %. The main contamination of wastewater from small fruit-and- vegetable processing plant consist of organic substance (to 10000 gO2∙m-3 as COD). The bed with vertical flow built of various fractions of sand and with fully developped reeds was found very effective in its removal. Sufficient results were obtained with loading of the bed up to 90gCOD∙m-2∙d-1. ...

Quality study results of water inflowing and outflowing from small water reservoir Młyny on river Julianpolka

Paper concerns the small reservoir Młyny II located in km 6,968 of river Julianpolka, place Młyny, commune Rudniki, Opole Province. Młyny reservoir II is one of nine of small dam reservoirs situated in Opole Provine. It has a lot of functions: agricultural irrigation, fish farming and recreation. Reservoir are is 4,53 ha, and capacity 81 540 m3. The aim of this work is presenetation of study results of water quality on river Julianpolka flowing across Młyny reservoir. Investigations has been performed in period from January 2006 to December 2006. Measurements concern following water quality indexes: nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, phosphates, BOD, COD, water reaction, electrolytic conductivity and water temperature. Studies showed that water from Młyny reservoir had lower content of nitrates, phoshpates and electrolytic conductivity. Started investigations on Młyny reservoir deliver information on water quality inflowing and outflowing from this reservoir, and facilitate to make correct economic decisions connected with storied water use at reservoir and protection. ...

Seasonal changes in the size of nitrogen load outflowed from micro-catchments used for agricultural purposes

The paper presents the results of the survey of the daily load of total nitrogen outflowed with drainage system and ditches in Lower Silesia. The volume of daily load shows large seasonal variation. The maximum daily loads were found in object located in the submontane area. These loads amounted for the drainage systems 6,27 kg N  d-1  ha-1 and for the ditches were noted until 12,2 kg N  d-1 ha-1. Significantly lower values were found in the lowland object. In lowland area, risk of polluting the receiver with total nitrogen effluents from agricultural areas, occurs mainly during early spring. At the object located in the submontane area, which is characterized by greater rainfall, there is a second critical period attributable to the July and August. Load of nitrogen outflowed from submontane catchment during the year was 75,5 kg N  ha-1, while from lowland's catchment outflowed much less nitrogen - 12,7 kg N  ha-1. Con-ducted research and analysis clearly show, that the size of nitrogen load outflowed from catchment is determined, to a large extent, the course of weather conditions, particularly amount of rainfall. ...

INFLUENCE OF SULFUR AND IRON FERTILIZATION ON NUTRIENT UTILIZATION BY PLANTS

The aim of the three-year pot experiment was to determine the effect of standard mineral fertilization enriched with sulfur and iron on the content of nitrogen and sulfur in plants and on nutrient utilization by plants. Abundance of sulfates in soil after sulfur fertilization was also assessed. The direct effect of fertilization was assessed during the first and second year of the pot experiment, and the after-effect was analyzed during the third year. Rape (first year) and maize (second and third year) were the test plants. Solid mineral fertilizers (A: a mixture of ammonium nitrate and dolomite; B: a mixture of ammonium nitrate and sulfate) enriched with iron sulfate were used. Nitrogen content in the plants varied depending on applied fertilization as well on plant species and part. Sulfur application increased sulfur content in the aboveground parts of plants by 25-457% and in roots by 95-708%. Iron application ambiguously influenced nitrogen and sulfur content in the plants. Hovewer, simultaneous application of iron and sulfur (as fertilizer B enriched with iron) resulted in the highest coefficient of nitrogen (84%) and sulfur (39%) utilization. Sulfur fertilization caused a 5-20 fold increase in sulfate sulfur content in the soil. ...
