The paper is the overview to the methods of river valleys’ hydro-morphological (eco-morphological) evaluation, which have been used in Poland and other countries since 1980-ies. Author takes up the problem of evaluation accuracy and subjectivity in particular methods and the role of “biological” parameters in different valley zones. The usefulness of vast-area surveys and detailed studies are being analysed in the relation to the Water Framework Directive and sustainable development demands. The controversies about the key and particularly valuable species in river valley ecosystems are also discussed. ...
The assessment of hydromorphological state of the Mosinski Canal with review method was the aim of this work. Moreover the received results from review method were compared with results of field method. Realizing main aim, to assess the hydromorphological state of water-course, the German review method (LAWA 2002) was chosen. The part of canal (on distance 15,9 km) which was investigated lies between bridge on road Głuchowo–Steszew, and it's estuary to the Warta River. In this study the similarities and differences in opinion of water-course between review and field method were shown. Both methods were verified in the context of theoretical assumptions, assessment precision and possibility of applying in monitoring of hydromorphological state of surface waters. In spite of differences in partial opinion, general assessment in both cases classified water-course to the same IV category of naturalness ...
The article presents (methodology) an algorithm with the help of which one can conduct, in a fairly objective manner, an evaluation of rural areas for decision making purposes of the local government administration. Conducting the procedure indicated in the algorithm limits subjectivity of the decisions to a minimum. enables to compare land objects and their ranking/classification using available characteristics of the examined land objects which are in the databases of local self-governments and land register. The algorithm allows for the application of simple electronic tools, which perfectly support the decision making process.

Ecological sites and their data included in official registers are the subject of the paper. While comparing the total area of ecological sites in The Land and Building Register (EGiB) (the state for January 1, 2012) in zachodniopomorskie voivodeship with the data on various forms of environmental protection included in the same source, one can notice big discrepancies. The first data mentions the area of 4 328 ha, the other ones - 6 424 ha. One of the purposes of the paper is to check whether similar discrepancies occur in Koszalin Province and City of Koszalin. The aim of the research, whose results are presented in the paper, was to show and evaluate discrepancies between various registers on the local level containing quantitative and area data of ecological sites. The main source of information used was the register of Regional Director of Protection of Environment (RDOŚ) and EGiB. The area of Koszalin province and Koszalin itself was the object of the research. The data collected for October 1, 2013 and quantitative and qualitative analysis of documents and area analysis were used. The conducted analyses resulted in pointing out deficiencies and discrepancies in both registers and evaluating numbers and areas of ecological sites ...
