The study presents cultural landscape development of Wiśniowa village, situated in Myślenice county, of Małopolska province in 1872–2006. The investigation of cultural landscape transformations within the space of 134 years was made on the basis of descriptive-tabular data of the former Austrian cadastre and of land and buildings registration presently operating in Poland. Conducted dynamic analysis of cultural landscape in four accepted for analysis periods of time revealed diverse tendencies and directions of changes. Spatial comparison of the cultural landscapes boundaries location between cadastral maps at scales 1 : 2880 and 1 : 2000 served as a supplement for size investigation of originated changes. Comparative analysis of the cultural landscapes boundaries location on those maps was possible thanks to the transformation of the cadastral system to the national system 1965 which was made in this study. Investigation carried out with analytical – cartographic method not only revealed the size and the direction of changes in cultural landscape but at the same time located these changes in the space of Wiśniowa village. ...
The aim of the article was to examine the relations between the cultural landscape of villages and the spa areas located in them based on an example of Solec-Zdrój village in Świętokrzyskie Voivodship. Tourism industry, including spa industry (eg. Solec-Zdrój, Przerzeczyn-Zdrój, Długopole-Zdrój and other) has been present in the Polish rural areas for hundreds of years. It has been taking advantage of the landscape treated as an easily accessible material for the pro-duction of tourist attractions. Tourism and culture are closely related. Tourism enriches, protects and popularises cultural heritage. The widely understood cul-ture becomes an important element of touristic programmes, promotes culture and tourism-related journeys. Moreover, it has a well-defined place in the sightseeing, spa, study, educational, linguistic, alternative and pilgrim tourism. Cultural tour-ism constitutes one of the fastest developing segments of the global tourism mar-ket. The demeanour of self-governments and citizens, who seek sources of income in the development of tourism, is also relevant. The situation of spa towns and vil-lages with extra qualities, such as medicinal waters, microclimate and cultural heritage including the objects of spa infrastructure, is extremely beneficial. ...
Current approaches to cultural landscapes are more and more often em-phasising that these landscapes should be protected not only because they embrace objects of historical and environmental value, but also due to their potential for local and regional development. Cultural landscapes have influence on tourism attractiveness. The paper presents examples of cultural landscapes in Poland and abroad that have been shaped to become tourist products supporting local and re-gional development. It particularly demonstrates the way rural space could be de-veloped to create tourist and recreation areas taking into consideration local cultural potential as well as possibilities of social and economic growth. What is particularly important in the development of tourist and recreation areas is active participation of local communities and possibilities of cooperation between many institutions.Space could be shaped based on local authenticity values and also in relation to environmental, cultural and social conditions.
