LOW-COST REMOTE DOSING SYSTEM FOR CARBON DIOXIDE LEVEL CONTROL IN THE UNDERCOVER CULTIVATION

The article presents the possibility of using a cell phone to control the level of carbon dioxide in undercover tunnels and greenhouses. Studies show that increasing the level of carbon dioxide in the air under covers results in a significant increase in the yield of the crops produced. The proposed system is autonomous. Its essential element is the multimedia Raspberry Pi platform. Under the manufacturer's assumptions, the Raspberry Pi is a microcomputer designed primarily for the operation of audio-visual equipment. It can also be used to build simple measurement systems and control systems such as the access control system. This article describes the basic features of the platform along with the extended modules. The proposed application is used to measure the CO2 content in the air in the cultivation tunnel. The system also measures temperature and relative humidity. The measured values are compared with the threshold values and the report is sent to the mobile phone selected by the user. The developed program reports on the values recognised as threshold ones. In response to the information received, the user may decide to remotely enable the increase of CO2 content in the air under cover. The motion sensor integrated with the ...

Environment friendly electric motors for driving low-power farm devices and municipal installations

The article presents the most important causes of energy losses in magnetic circuits of electrical machines and describes a new design of a synchronized induction motor. The basic operational parameters of two structures: induction machine with squirrel cage (IM) and newly designed machine with a rotor with permanent magnets and a copper squirrel cage (induction machine synchronized with self-starting (LSPMSM) have been identified and compared. Performance characteristics were determined for work in steady states. In both cases the stator, type Sg 100L-4B of 3 kW induction motor was used. It has been shown that the PSPMSM supplied from the public mains grid shows the efficiency approx. 5% higher than the conventional motor. The influence of the change in the supply voltage frequency on the work of both structures was tested, i.e. on the measured efficiency, power factor and the electricity from electrical grid. Studies have shown that the LSPMSM can be a replacement for an induction motor. It has been shown that the torque pulsations occurring in the new structure (cogging torque) do not increase the environmental risks. ...

ECOLOGICAL USE OF POST-PRODUCTION WASTE IN LARGE CATTLE FARMS

The article presents the legal constraints for limiting carbon dioxide emissions in Poland. It has been shown that, despite unstable and unfavorable financial policies, investing in the construction of local biogas plants and converting them into electricity is justified. The technological processes in such installations have been described. The article presents a flowchart of the technological process of processing manure, bovine manure and maize for biogas. It has been shown that a herd of about 1000 cows provides enough waste that this enables the bio-power plant of 500 kW. Tabular data lists data for such installations and for installations with twice the power. The basic criteria for selecting the number of generating sets, the type of mechanical drive (motor) for the generating set and the generator itself, are given, so that the power sources can work both on the grid and in the island system (isolated). It was indicated the possibility of comprehensive development of all heat generated in the biogas plant. ...
