When compared to other countries of the EU, Poland is a country in which rural areas play special role. Nearly 40% of the population live in the country and rural areas cover more than 90% of the country's territory. People employed in agriculture make more than 20% of the whole workforce, so a few times more when compared to the EU. Simultaneously, farms are significantly smaller than in the „old’’ membership countries. A historical feature of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the EU has been presented in this work. The scope of the CAP reforms, as well as their influence on formation of the agricultural policy in Poland have been discussed. Both sources and level of subsidy costs to agriculture have been presented. Aid programmes for agricultural farms have been analysed, both the already realized and those which undergo implementation. The considerations were based on analysis of the newest documents and articles relating to the a.m. issues. The thesis contains description of the qualities of natural environment and cultural heritage of the manor park complex in Wola Duchacka in Cracow based on cartographic materials.Historical cadastral plans, military topographical photographs, iconographic materials and contemporary cadastral and object maps are the carriers of various spatial data. Therefore, the maps and plans drawn up within the space of two hundred thirty years have been analysed by means of a chronological and comparative method.The results of this analysis have been used by the Landscape Architecture students at the Cracow University of Agriculture to prepare the Duchacki Park's revitalisation projects. ...
The paper presents three necropolises of Podgórze, formerly an independent township, at present the municipal district No. XIII of Krakow. Indicated were elements of cultural material and spiritual heritage of the old and new Podgórze cemeteries and the largest cemetery from the World War II time, for what can be considered the area of Nazi concentration camp KL Płaszów. These cemeteries are a resting place of persons who made a lasting contribution to the history, scientific, cultural and social life of Podgórze. Epitaphs placed on old monuments, which are pieces of sculptural art, provide a source of information about the socio-professional structure and nationalities of Podgórze inhabitants, who became fast polonized. A significant element of the necropolises internal landscape are green area, which in many cases requires a change of composition and certainly better tending measures. ...
The article recalls an idea of a "village in a parkland landscape", which was realised in the West European countries from the mid-19th until mid-20th century. An example of the concept realised on Polish soils was the estate in Turew, the property of general Dezydery Chłapowski. At present, the area of the former property is a part of the Landscape Park. The principles of "landscape management" determined by Chłapowski have been observed up to this day. This primarily refers to tree plantings and farming. The paper discusses legal acts which might be a tool for introducing new landscape projects planned for rural areas. ...
