Relief of the Pilica river valley between Inowłódz and Domaniewice and its relationship with the geological structure of alluvia basement

key words: river valley, alluvia basement, erosion resistant deposits

Summary:

Investigations were carried out in the Pilica River valley between Inowłódz and Domaniewice. There are protrusions of the valley basement composed of
Jurassic sandstones, as well as moraine deposits in the channel zone. They act as erosion resistant thresholds, resistant to the flood waters flows. The traces of the erosion and deposition of these flows exist on the floodplain surface, concealing traces of Holocene Pilica evolution.
